It didn't take long for a team of 15 Rotarians and friends of Christchurch Rotary Club to plant 250 seedlings in the Sanctuary area on the Waimakariri River flood banks. This number more than contributed their club's due to Rotary International's world president Ian Riseley’s challenge - to enhance our natural environment by planting a tree for every Rotarian.
A small group also placed mulch around previous plantings, before all enjoyed a well-deserved break - complete with carrot cake and Secretary Fenn's famous cheese scones. ECan Ranger Greg rounded the visit off with an informative talk on the biodiversity re-established in the flood management zone.
