15 international postgraduate students at Lincoln University and their partners enjoyed the company of Rotarians in August at the annual dinner meeting organised by the Rotary Club of Lincoln. This annual event has occurred for more than a decade now and has proven a great way for club members to welcome young overseas scholars to our community.
Lincoln is a multi-cultural township, as is reflected in the club’s membership - 10 of the 48 Lincoln Rotary members came from another country.

On Tuesday 13 August evening, the club invited 15 postgraduate students and their partners from Ghana, Argentina, Fiji, Switzerland, Philippines, Nepal, South Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Jordan, Myanmar, Costa Rica and Sri Lanka. Club members had the pleasant duty of hosting students and exchanging ideas and experiences.

“This is an excellent opportunity for us to make the students feel welcome in New Zealand and to learn about different cultures” said Rotarian Ravi Gooneratne who coordinated the meeting. This year, the students came from all different faculties of Lincoln University and each gave a 2-minute talk about their country, culture and highlights of their research work.
