2019's Rotary Youth Leadership Award was attended by 46 young people from across the upper South Island in January. With a jam-packed programme ahead, they arrived as strangers and went home a week later as friends.

The first day started off with registration, finding t-shirts that fitted, sorting out accommodation and introductions, before the programme itself started. After District Governor John welcomed the Rylarians to the programme, celebrity chef Jax Hamilton shared with them her recipe for a successful life. Next up was a session with the NZ Army focussing on icebreakers, name recognition and getting to know each other.

From there the week proceeded with a range of challenging speakers, teamwork, various challenges, ropes courses and the formal dinner before the closing function on Friday afternoon when the participants made their presentations.

A huge thanks to Kingsley Clark and his team from Lincoln Rotary for running and managing the  programme, Phil and Sheri Gatehouse, also from Lincoln Rotary, who were camp "mum and dad", and Tony Blackler for his oversight from the District Board.
Well done everyone!
